“Scandal, Sparkles & Sweets: Our Very Regency-Approved Update”

I’m very excited for the return of Bridgerton — and this season is already giving full Cinderella energy. Glow-ups, longing looks… and tables absolutely loaded with cake.

Which made me wonder:

are those cakes real… or just incredibly convincing imposters?

Spoiler: mostly imposters.

A lot of the Bridgerton desserts are props or styled food, designed to look outrageously indulgent but survive hours of filming. Hence why no one ever actually eats the cake. Tragic, really.

Back in Regency times, sugar was expensive and desserts were a status symbol, not an everyday treat. Fancy cakes, iced puddings and sweets were reserved for the elite — everyone else wasn’t casually snacking on sugar.

Fast-forward to now and we’re debating whether a viral cheesecake is worth the hype.

That’s the magic of Bridgerton though — it’s not about realism, it’s about fantasy. Big emotions, big dresses… and even bigger desserts.

If Bridgerton were set in 2026, you know there’d be a dramatic slow-motion entrance straight past a dessert table stacked with Brownies and someone whispering:

“Fudge Sake… have you tried this?”

We’ve been busy in the kitchen… and honestly? Things have levelled up.

Deep Dish Cookies 🍪🔥

A cookie with main-character energy.

Think big, open cookies — crumbly, soft, perfectly baked, and stuffed with your favourite flavours. I was lucky enough to taste-test (tough job, I know) the Lemon Meringue, Ferrero Rocher, and Caramel Freddo versions.

The Lemon Meringue was stunning. Smooth, almost marshmallow-like meringue, beautifully blow-torched on top. My only note? It needed a little extra zing — which we’re already amending because details matter.

This is what research looks like.

The Caramel Freddo? Divine. But I felt it deserved a thin layer of chocolate to cradle the caramel, give the Freddo a proper base, and add a little snap to the bite. Consider that idea… taken on board 👀🍫

Now the Ferrero Rocher one?

Banging.

No notes.

Morish, chocolatey, hazelnut perfection. My mouth says yes every time.

One Step Closer to Launch Party

We’re one step closer to our launch party, and it’s time to celebrate Fudge Sake and the people who’ve supported us from the very beginning.

On that note, we’d like to pay our respects to Sammie Exler who sadly passed recently.

Sammie was there at the start — offering support, sharing ideas, and guiding us on where to sell (yes, the car boots!). We’d often pitch up together, share laughs, and learn as we went. She also helped with packaging advice, design input, and was working alongside us on the idea for our protein range.

Her kindness, encouragement and belief in what we were building will always be part of Fudge Sake.

As we prepare to celebrate this next chapter, we’re doing it with gratitude — and excitement.

Food Hygiene

“Clean Enough to Impress Your Nan—and the Inspectors”

We recently had our routine Food Hygiene review — cue the deep breaths and tidy-up panic. As scary as it sounds, they were actually friendly, helpful, and lovely as always.

Better yet… they were impressed. 👀✨

Our standards? On point.

Our record keeping? Solid.

Our pride in doing things properly? Very much justified.

We’re pleased (and slightly smug) to report that we continue to hold our 5-star hygiene rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is something we really do pride ourselves on. We continuously train, review, and improve — not just because we have to, but because it matters. To us, and to you. Keeping everything safe, clean, and up to the highest standards is non-negotiable.

So yes, the treats are indulgent…

but the hygiene? Elite.
